Lisa Young
Lisa Young lives with her husband Rick, children Jennifer, and Alexander, in Calgary Alberta Canada. She also has two step children; Jamison and his wife Elizabeth, who lives in Ottawa; Aurora and her husband Steve, who also live in Calgary.
She grew up in Ohio, and moved to Arizona when she was 18. She moved to Canada in 1981. She has fallen in love with the west. Living near the mountains has an energy and beauty like no other place. Every drive through the mountains shows a different picture of God’s creations.
Writing has become a late blooming passion for Lisa. She wrote “The Friendship of Magpie and Crow” 20 years ago, after the death of her brother Donnie. She sent her first manuscript to many various Publishing companies. One publishing company took an interest in the book, but she had no say as to the illustrator or layout of the book. So she put it away. Then, 20 years almost to the day of her brother’s departure, her book became a reality. It would not have been possible had she not connected with so many amazing people along the way.
Self publishing this book has been such an amazing experience for Lisa. So many connections, meeting people, reaching children, and giving them this small part of herself has now led her to this great creative process. She plans on having as many stories as she has insider her become a reality! Her intention is to inspire and uplift people, as they have done for her. She believes all possibilities are within, and it’s a matter of finding it and following your dreams.
Lisa is an example that self publishing is now more than ever, a feasible and profitable way of making your book become a reality!
